Obituary for Thomas William Wazelle Sr.

Thomas William Wazelle, Sr. was born August 6, 1927, in Smithers, West Virginia. He went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 3, 2014, in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was the only son of Thomas Fyfe and Sue James Fyfe. He was retired from Harding Glass in Fort Smith, where he worked for 32 years as a heavy cutter. He graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1945, and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served honorably in the Pacific Theatre aboard the U.S.S. Cowpens and the U.S.S. Hampton Roads. He was awarded the Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. Tommy was the full-time caregiver for Betty the last 12 years of her life, he set an example of love and caring for his wife and family that is unmatched.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kibler where he greatly enjoyed singing in the choir and baking cakes for the Friday night dinners. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-four years, Betty Jean Salmon Wazelle.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren, with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

He is survived by one daughter, Constance Brown of Van Buren; two sons,
Thomas Wazelle, Jr of Alma, Andrew Wazelle of Glasgow, Kentucky; five grandchildren and eight-great-grandchildren.
