Velta Fern Crowder, 93 of Van Buren passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 in a local hospital. She was retired cafeteria manager at Sparks Regional Center. A lifelong resident of Crawford County; she enjoyed sewing and growing flowers. She was a member of the Van Buren First Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Crowder; both parents, N.P and Maude (Flanagan) Rice; three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday, July 14, 2014 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Crowder of the home; five daughters, Pat Steward and husband, J.B of Van Buren, Donna Baldridge, Beverly Patterson and husband, Kenneth, Chris Pope & husband, Ronnie all of Alma, Jeri Brumley and husband, Gary of Kibler; one son, Burl Crowder and wife, Laura of Van Buren; one sister, Lois Travis of San Antonio, TX; thirteen grandchildren, Deborah Curtis, Terry Crowder, Rickey Crowder, Lisa Johnson, Sherry Lindsey, Darla Bray, Cheryl Stump, Teresa Cameron, Rev. Gary Crowder, Mark Brumley, Amy Orrick, Daniel Brumley, Amanda Patterson; thirty-eight great grandchildren and seventeen great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rick Crowder, Rev. Gary Crowder, Darrell Cameron, David Bray, Michael Bray, and John Curtis.

Family will visit with relatives and friends Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 2-4 PM at Ocker Funeral Home 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren.
